Why are we so afraid of Ouija Boards
Wednesday 27th April 2022

The Ouija board has a fascinating and mysterious history. It was first marketed as a toy in the United States in 1890 during a time when there was a strong interest in spiritualism and communicating with spirits.

The Ouija board is a talking board that gained popularity and has since become a symbol of the paranormal. The board consists of letters, numbers, and other symbols, and participants place their hands on a planchette that moves across the board to spell out messages from the spirit realm.

There are various theories about the origin of the name "Ouija." One popular belief's is that it is a combination of the French and German words for "yes" - "oui" and "ja" respectively. Another theory suggests that the board is an ancient Egyptian phrase meaning "good luck".

Over the years, the Ouija board has been associated with supernatural and mysterious events. In popular culture, it has been featured in movies such as "The Exorcist" and "Ouija: Origin of Evil" where the Ouija Board is always portrayed as something evil or a portal where satanic spirits can come through into our world. Its history also includes reports of crimes supposedly prompted by Ouija board messages, such as a case in Buffalo, New York, in 1930.
